Appearance: Markus is tall and solidly built, though not overly muscular. He has sandy-blonde hair, kept short, and pale blue eyes. Although his face appears kindly, his eyes can quickly turn cool as ice during combat. He most often wears his alliance fatigues, and in combat is rarely without a medical kit at his back – with a vibroblade hilt jutting conspicuously over his right shoulder.
Personality: A simple man, all Markus ever wanted was to help others. The cruelty of the Empire has thus turned him into a committed member of the Rebel Alliance. In ‘down-time,’ he is a quiet yet affable sort who takes satisfaction in a job-well done, and has little use for accolades or recognition. In combat, he will risk everything to get wounded comrades out of the line of fire, and defend them as need be.
He is slowly becoming aware that his perception skills are more than just good observation or sixth sense. He has also noticed that at times when he is focused, his medical instruments seem to just appear in his hands. He used to think this is a result of his meditation techniques (as an amateur martial artist), but is now beginning to wonder if there is something more to this…
Background: Markus Tor was born in the city of Votrad, on Brentaal IV. As the son of a starport laborer and a shopkeeper, he did not have the resources to study. But he always had the feeling he was meant to help others. He thus became an emergency medic, and quickly grew skilled at both treating injured sentients and piloting rescue repulsorcraft.
He found his true calling, and more, on one fateful day. His team received a call to attend many wounded sentients at the site of an explosion. They found a ruined warehouse, with many people trapped beneath debris. Somehow, despite the fact many of them were not able to call for help, Markus knew where many of them were. Thanks to his ‘instincts’ many innocents were saved. It was later that he learned that the warehouse was owned by the Alliance. Despite the fact that most of the laborers were innocent, the Imperial troops attacked with merciless force, and reduced the place to rubble.
That evening he was approached by a man representing the Alliance. It was then that Markus learned that the owner of his company was himself a Rebel sympathizer. The man, a Rebel SpecOps officer, had come to take charge of some of the valuable materials in the warehouse. Although that mission was a failure, he was impressed when told of young Tor’s performance in the aftermath, and offered him a chance to help not just a few people, but perhaps those of many systems, as a soldier of the Alliance.
It was thus that Markus became a combat medic. Although he is not a crack shot, his hardiness and courage under fire got him assigned as medic to a Rebel SpecOps team. He is becoming a skilled defensive fighter, particularly in close combat. He has been in several hotspots across the Galaxy, doing his best to protect his teammates and succeed in his missions.
Tor’s view of life has changed drastically after his latest mission to Tatooine. Not only has his mastery of the Force begun to mature, but his perusal of a series of holorecordings by Jedi Knight Bentar Finth has shown him the beginning of the Jedi path — one he feels compelled to follow, even if he does not know where it leads.
On a mission to Lehon, the team rescued the marooned Jedi Master Simaya Marr. The Miraluka accepted Markus as Padawan, and began his training in earnest.
